Palestine Authority interoperability gateway project started on May 28, 2010

eGovernance Academy started on May 25 the project in Palestine: National Authority Development of X-road – interoperability network for better governance and public services. Project is financed by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs international development cooperation programme.

During the project analysis, consultancy and training will be made together with Palestinian officials and experts will develop suitable X-road model for Palestinian conditions. As a result of the project Palestinian Authority will be ready to start the X-road implementation process in 2011.
Arvo Ott, the Director of eGovernance Academy as well as the project expert, said that the level of IT-experts in Palestinian institutions is very good. Moreover, there is a great interest and will from the Palestinian institutions to develop interoperability solutions. The first technical topics seminar in Ramallah on May 27 was attended by more than 30 experts from 8 Palestinian institutions.
Palestinian Ministry of Transportation has just launched first governmental web service assisting citizens to pay traffic fines in the banks. Also there is a plan to develop post offices as a service centre for citizens providing governmental services and issuing different documents and certificates.
During the project Palestinian expert team will visit Estonia and several trainings will be held in Palestine during the project.
The project will be finalized in January 2011.
