ICT in education is one of the four main directions of eGA activities since 2004.
The program area aims at initiating and stimulating the modernization of educational systems in eGA target countries with the introduction of modern information and communication technologies (ICTs) in general education as well as basic and vocational education.
A priority goal of the program is to immerse new cohorts of students into ICT- enhanced learning and to make these experiences a significant part of the study process for all students and teachers.
The program utilizes the experience of Estonian school computerization projects and programs as well as e-learning practices in other countries.
The areas where eGA provides advisory services combined with training activities but are not limited to:
• Strategic planning of ICT in education programs at national, local, and school level. Overview of e-learning strategies in Estonia and abroad;
• Governance, management, and financing of ICT in education programs on national, local, and school level;
• Infrastructure development;
• ICT integration to national, subject, and school curriculum;
• Development, production, and use of original educational software, digital learning materials and learning aids;
• Information systems in education;
• Virtual learning environments (for distance and/or blended learning);
• Monitoring and evaluation of ICT in education programs;
• enhancing ICT skills of school staff: trainers, teachers, directors, etc;
• raising public awareness, etc.
In 2004-2008, eGA has been involved in the preparation and implementation of ICT in education initiatives in Georgia, Albania, Moldova, and Macedonia.
The main partners in the program are Tallinn University, Tartu University, Tiger Leap Foundation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Research, secondary schools all over Estonia.
